2019 Summer Field Trip
From Vance Almquist (OSSS Sharpshooter Editor): I just wanted to make sure and loop everyone in on the latest developments in the Summer Tour to Brookings/Chetco.
-
Date has been set! Sept. 11-13. Originally we were really trying for an August date [but] we were having an extremely difficult time finding accommodations.
-
We have a verbal agreement with Alfred Loeb State Park officials for lodging.
-
The plan is to reserve ~10 camping sites (likely can accommodate 3 tents per site) . Each site has parking for two vehicles (thus carpooling is strongly encouraged).
-
1-2 sites will be used for a group gathering location
-
-
We are working out a couple of food scenarios and details are forthcoming.
-
Most likely scenario is lunch and dinners are provided, breakfast on your own.
-
-
Registration cost is currently looking to be $75. Most likely scenario is a pay-on-arrival to the summer tour. My understanding is that this is due to some problems with the website host’s monetary functionality.
-
We may need to arrange some backup speakers / field stops in the event that the federal employees are tied up with actual wildfire work.
As they arise, more details will be posted here and at the OSSS site linked below.
